You're already aware that Highway Weather is an excellent resource for empowering yourself with the weather-and-road-condition knowledge necessary for you to plan and safely execute your journey. However, you may be wondering where Highway Weather sources the data you see!
This quick article will give you the basic breakdown of things.
Weather
Highway Weather obtains overall weather data from a service called Visual Crossing. Visual Crossing offers very localized and granular weather reports often obtained from regional sources such as NOAA.
Directions (Routing Data)
Directions, otherwise known as "routes", come from several sources including Google. When a traveler inputs their starting point and destination(s) into Highway Weather, the app will return up to three optimized routes.
Traffic Cameras
Highway Weather's Traffic Cam feeds are sourced from Windy.com. Where traffic cameras are set up and available, these feeds provide travelers with a live look at what current conditions exist along their route.
